KURUKHETRA: Kurukshetra deputy commissioner was hit by a footwear when he went to clear the jam on national highway near the town on Friday to pacify people who had blocked the road for six hours in protest against the brutal rape and murder of a teenager.
The shocking incident has raised a question mark over the law and order situation in the state as Sweety (16) was kidnapped from the market in presence of many. She was going on her scooty to pick up her father from Jindal Chowk around 9 pm on Wednesday. Suddenly 3-4 persons kidnapped her and escaped in a Scorpio car. Sweety`s half-naked body was recovered from Sarohi village of Karnal district on Thursday. After post-mortem examination, she was cremated at Mohan Nagar in Karnal on Friday.
Daughter of a junior engineer in irrigation department, Sweety was a 12 {+t} {+h} class student of a private school. "If a girl can be kidnapped like this from a market, then nobody is safe here," said a protester. Victim`s brother Kunal said, "Cops miserably failed to handle the case. Only CBI can investigate the matter properly. I will fight to get justice for my sister."
